Cindy Bennett will be receiving the TAEA’s award for the National Art Honor Society Sponsor of the Year at the October conference in Memphis.  Cindy was nominated by a fellow art teacher, who had this to say about her in his nomination letter: “Cindy founded the first National Art Honor Society at Volunteer High School during the 2016-2017 school year.  She believes that having this available to those students who participate and excel in art allows students to see beyond their classroom project and into their communities and future. In the spring of 2016, she curated a student art show that was exhibited at the Renaissance Center in Kingsport, TN.  Her ability to work with the Kingsport Art Guild to be able to provide this experience for her students exemplifies what a hardworking and experienced arts educator is, by going out and searching for ways to show and present her students artwork and their abilities.”
