Description:

Horticulture Science prepares students for future careers in the management of greenhouse operations, horticulture production, landscape design and maintenance, and turf management. Content covered in this POS includes principles of plant health, growth, reproduction, and biotechnology, principles of hydroponics and aquaponics, greenhouse structures, growing media, site analysis and planning, principles of design, and plant selection and care techniques. Upon completion of this POS, students will be prepared to pursue careers or further study in the horticultural sciences.  They have the opportunity in FFA Association, to compete at regional, state, and national level in various Career Development Events.

 

Course Fees: $10 per course

Student Organization: Future Farmers of America

 

Courses/Sequence:

Level 1- Agriscience (1 credit) Satisfies one lab science credit required for graduation.

Level 2- Principles of Plant Science and Hydroculture (1 credit)

Level 3- Greenhouse Management (1 credit) State approved dual credit course.

Level 4- Landscaping and Turf Science (1 credit)
