New member information
We tour the Mathematics and Engineering departments, as well as sit in on a class, at UT to give students an opportunity to see how math can be used after graduating and the multiple fields. MAO also participates in the MAO State Convention (spring, this year it will be held at Oak Ridge High School, Oak Ridge, TN) and the UETCTM Math Competition (held at NESCC, also in the spring).
In March MAO celebrates Pi Day. We also fund raise to support our seniors with a one-time $250 scholarship & celebrate them at the end of the year by giving them their cords and certificates. We also go outside math to be involved in our community and world.
Any student is welcome to attend; however, an active member is one who has completed Algebra II, maintained a 3.0 GPA in math, currently is enrolled for an upper-level math class (prob/stat, pre-cal, etc) for the coming year, has paid dues and is regularly attending meetings and participating in activities.
Please see Mrs. Fore-Siglin (room 304) or Mr. Buck (room 200) if you have any questions.
