Strong Hitting Not Enough As Volunteer Varsity Falcons Falls To Daniel Boone By GameChanger Volunteer Varsity Falcons fell 8-5 to Daniel Boone on Monday despite out-hitting them 10 to eight. Danni Guinn, Maddie Holder, Sydney New, and Emily Walker each collected two hits for Volunteer Varsity Falcons. Daniel Boone got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Aggie Greer drew a walk, scoring one run, A Sherman doubled, scoring two runs, and McKenzie Shivers grounded out, scoring one run. Daniel Boone added two runs in the second. McKenzie Shivers singled up the middle, making the score 6-1. Volunteer Varsity Falcons scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by Maddie Holder. Rylee Smith started in the circle for Volunteer Varsity Falcons. The starter surrendered eight hits and eight runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking four. L Hilton began the game for Daniel Boone. The hurler allowed six hits and three runs over five and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Volunteer Varsity Falcons tallied 10 hits in the game. Maddie Holder provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Volunteer Varsity Falcons with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Williams Slices Through Claiborne As Volunteer Varsity Falcons Shut Out Claiborne By GameChanger Carson Williams shut down Claiborne, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Volunteer Varsity Falcons to a 5-0 victory on Friday. Volunteer Varsity Falcons were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run. Volunteer Varsity Falcons added one run in the second after Cade Smith singled down the right field line. Volunteer Varsity Falcons added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on three hits. Carson Williams singled, scoring one run, and Jameson Mowell homered to left field, scoring two runs. Sam Wilson took the loss for Claiborne. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking three. Jameson Mowell, the number seven hitter for Volunteer Varsity Falcons, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Gavin Hickernell started the game for Volunteer Varsity Falcons and recorded 16 outs. Volunteer Varsity Falcons lost despite out-hitting Sullivan East seven to six. Jameson Mowell led Volunteer Varsity Falcons with two hits. Sullivan East got on the board in the second inning after a passed ball scored one run. Jonah Smith earned the win for Sullivan East. Baseball Final Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Volunteer Varsity Falcons Past Unaka By GameChanger The bottom of the lineup helped Volunteer Varsity Falcons capture a 9-7 victory over Unaka on Tuesday. J.J. Franklin, Cooper Fraysier, and Brock Mowell combined for four of the team's eight hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in four. Despite falling down by six runs in the third inning, Unaka tried to fight back. Unaka closed the gap by scoring on a single, a single, a single, and a ground out. Unaka got on the board in the second inning after Dylan Davidson singled, scoring one run. Volunteer Varsity Falcons jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Brock Mowell singled to center field, and Cooper Fraysier singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Volunteer Varsity Falcons scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. An error scored one run, Carson Williams grounded out, scoring one run, Cooper Fraysier tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
